As the 2014 show season comes to an end there is a noticeable change in the show scene, with more and more established exhibitors rejecting the larger main shows in favour of the large and small classic shows.

The last two years have seen an increase in these, and the reason most traders have switched is the continued rent increases at the mainline shows.

Be it by a straight forward price hike, or the stealth method of leaving the prices the same, while  reducing the length of a show, claiming that the rent is being held.

We can only see this trend continuing as the rents at classic shows are much lower, as are the entry cost’s, so they are also drawing more visitors away from the main shows as well.

It is now quite normal for a trader to take the same or nearly the same from a one day classic, than they do from either day at a larger weekend show, the difference being of course the rent, meaning a far better profit margin.

The truly awesome works Honda 500 four pictured with Mike Hailwood’s son David at the BMF Show Peterborough this year.

For those who are too young to remember, the bike was so powerful, it was a beast, and the only man who was able to tame it enough to stay on board was THE MASTER MIKE HAILWOOD. But even “Mike The Bike” struggled to stay on the bike

To see him riding this bucking bronco in the IOM was truly something anyone who was there will never forget.

After  over 1500 motorcycle shows & events, one of the most familiar stands at shows all over the UK, Europe and the USA “Crossbow Calendars” will no longer be exhibiting at any more shows.

After a show career over a 35 year period Crossbow’s John Winthrope said “I have served my time, and have enjoyed a great show career, but it’s now time to spend my twilight years with my family”.

The company’s last show was the BMF Show in Peterborough last May 2014, and the company are now concentrating on their online business.

Over this period many customers have become friends, and we would like to thank them for their support over the last 35 years.

Having sold the artwork side of the business 7 years ago to downsize their show stands, they recently sold their large pin badge business to Nottingham company “Fat Skeleton”, who will continue to serve show audiences with the largest range of biker pin badges in Europe.

As to the future Crossbow intend to introduce more of their own product lines, and continue to offer the service online that customers have received over the counter at bike shows.

In addition The Auto Cycle Union have organised for race trucks from a variety of WSB and BSB teams to be in attendance along with grass roots racing and off road teams all of whom will be bringing star riders to to meet the crowds.

All this is in addition to the brand new 2015 models from Triumph, Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki, Victory and Indian plus many more that you would expect to see at a modern motorcycle show.

As well as the 1,000 plus display motorcycles the show also features an extensive retail village where you can buy everything needed to keep your bike where it should be ..... on the road. A full list of exhibitors in now available on the dedicated show website
